A US lease administration firm serves landlords with a lean model: lease administrators in the US and a 10-person back-office team in India.
The model worked for the firm’s existing clients. It didn’t work for the large RFPs it wanted to win. Onboarding a portfolio of 1,000+ leases meant 3 to 6 months of abstraction work and more hires in the US, in India, or both. Landlords also wanted to see AI capabilities in the bid.
So the firm kept passing on the biggest opportunities in its market.
